Press Release

At this crucial juncture when entire Naga people are striving for a peaceful settlement, the Central Nagaland Tribes Council is perturbed by the recent accusations and allegations on senior political leaders of the state on their statement on the Naga political issue.

Affirming support to Ao Senden, the CNTC would like to clarify that the statement made by the state political leaders on the ongoing peace negotiation was not originated from them, but they had said what was conveyed to them at the meeting with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Much as Nagas of Nagaland would love to have Nagas to live under one umbrella, it is not possible as of now according to Government of India statement. It is therefore high time Nagas of Nagaland be relieved off the burden of Naga political movement and allow Nagas of Nagaland to progress at par with other states.

Also, Nagas should accept our national workers in the true spirit of Christianity as and when any political settlement is arrived at.

Further, CNTC appeal to the Government of India to expedite the political negotiation and question the government of India how long will the Nagas have to wait as delay in finding solution is leading to more division and discord among the Nagas.

CNTC would also like to clarify that the statement made by Deputy Chief Minister, Y. Patton was not intended to hurt or target any particularly community or tribe. As such, CNTC urge the citizens not to misinterpret the statement but take things into positive as he had boldly said what was taking place in the state, where people are the witness.
