An Inter Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) visited Zunheboto district in Nagaland to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the damage caused by recent landslides and flash floods during the monsoon season. The team, led by Anant Kishore Saran, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, included key members from various ministries and departments.

The delegation comprised Sarvana Kumar, Superintending Engineer from the Ministry of Jal Shakti; Adelbert Susngi, Superintending Engineer from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways; Ranjana Saini, Assistant Director from the Ministry of Rural Development; and Atul Bamnai, Section Officer from the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.

The team began their visit with a briefing at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, where they were presented with detailed PowerPoint presentations by the District Administration, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) members, and local agencies. The presentations provided a comprehensive overview of the current situation and the impact of the recent natural disasters.

Following the briefing, the IMCT toured severely affected colonies and areas, engaging with residents and local leaders to gather firsthand accounts of the damage and ongoing challenges. The team’s visit aimed to evaluate the extent of the destruction and assess the needs of the affected communities.

On the second day, the team held additional briefings with the District Administration representatives from Tuensang, Shamator, and Noklak at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall in Zunheboto. These sessions included presentations from the respective DDMAs, highlighting the severe impact of the landslides and floods across the districts.

The IMCT’s visit underscores the central government’s commitment to addressing the aftermath of the monsoon disasters and ensuring adequate support and resources for the affected regions.
