The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has released funds to states under the Fifteenth Finance Commission grants for Rural Local Bodies for the financial years 2024 to 2025 and 2025 to 2026. The grants are disbursed to eligible gram panchayats, block panchayats, and district panchayats based on Grant Transfer Certificates and compliance with mandatory conditions set by the Finance Ministry.

According to data placed in the Lok Sabha by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, the Central Government has not compiled information on the number of individuals or families that directly benefited from projects funded through these grants.

Nagaland does not appear in Annexure I, which contains state wise figures for allocations and releases under the Fourteenth Finance Commission from 2015 to 2020.

Under the Fifteenth Finance Commission, Nagaland received Rs. 125 crore in both allocation and release for 2020-21, followed by Rs. 92 crore in allocation and release for 2021-22. Receipts began to diverge in the following years. In 2022-23, Nagaland was allocated Rs. 96 crore but received Rs. 48 crore. In 2023-24, the state received no funds despite an allocation of Rs. 97 crore. The pattern continued in 2024-25 with allocations of Rs. 102 crore but with no corresponding releases recorded.

For 2025-26, Nagaland was allotted Rs. 99 crore. A total of Rs. 48573 crore was allotted to all the states for 2025-26 but none was released as of date.

Nagaland’s total allocation under the Fifteenth Finance Commission stands at Rs. 611 crore, while the total release amounts to Rs. 265 crore.

Nationally, the Centre has released Rs. 245,541.40 crore to Rural Local Bodies across states under the Fifteenth Finance Commission grant cycle so far, against a total allocation of Rs. 297,555 crore.
