CEO issues mandate for curbing use of money power

Kohima, January 27 (MTNews): Consequent upon the announcement of the schedule for the General Election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023 by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the mandate for curbing use of money power and various forms of inducements in elections have been vested with several Enforcement Agencies both Central and State.

 

According to a press release from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland, the Income Tax, Government of India have formed various Surveillance Teams for the purpose of effective monitoring of election expenditures of the candidates and for curbing the use of black money during the election process. The Surveillance Teams include Air Intelligence Units (AIU), Rail Intelligence Unit (RUI) and 24×7 Control Room.

Surveillance Teams will cover all the districts in the state of Nagaland. Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) shall be at all commercial airports including Dimapur Airport. 24×7 Control Room-cum Complaint Monitoring Cell shall be at Dimapur. Camp Office shall be at Circuit House, Kohima and Rail Intelligence Unit (RIU) at Dimapur Railway Station.

 

It was informed that all airports in the state, major railway stations, hotels, farm houses, hawala agents, financial brokers, cash couriers, pawn brokers and other suspicious agencies/ persons likely to be used for movement of unaccounted cash during election process shall be kept under close surveillance by the Income Tax Department.
