The three-day-long Mission Conference 2024, organized by the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC), commenced today at Phek Town Baptist Church. The event, held under the theme ”God’s Mission, Our Task,” brought together believers to reflect on the importance of mission work and its role in the Christian faith.

CBCC Executive Secretary Rev Dr Chekrovei Cho-o delivered a thought-provoking message on ”God’s Mission, God’s Call.” Rev Dr Cho-o emphasized that mission is not merely an individual effort but part of God’s greater plan for humanity. “Mission is not only a very familiar word to us but also our favorite word or activity. So, we’re all involved in it directly or indirectly,” he said.

Rev Dr Cho-o further elaborated that God’s mission is a collective responsibility, not isolated to individual agendas. “Mission is not what we do for God but what God does in us and with us. We are empowered by God to fulfill His plans for the nations,” he said, urging the congregation to engage wholeheartedly in mission work, so that they may be found faithful in their service.

A key highlight of the conference was the idea of ”10 Households, 1 Missionary” initiative. Rev Dr Vevo Phesao, CBCC President, challenged the congregation to support missionary work by sponsoring one missionary for every ten households.

The service was led by Rev Vikuo Rhi, convenor of the organizing committee, with a warm welcome extended by Rev Dr Kowepe Kanuo. The session also featured a testimony by Lhiivepra Ringa, a missionary from Amguri, and a song by the Phek Village Baptist Church choir and Losami Baptist Church choir. Vezokho Vezhii, Chairman of SBCC, read the Scripture, and Rev Vepocii Epao, Pastor of Immanuel BC, pronounced the benediction.

Earlier, the children’s department of Phek Town Baptist Church presented a play on the Great Commission, dramatizing the spread of Christianity, especially among the Chakhesang community.
