Four organizations from the Chakhesang community have expressed profound grief at the passing of Wezhietsü Mero, former president of the Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH), who died on August 28 in Dimapur after a prolonged illness.
The Western Chakhesang Hoho remembered him as a towering pillar of the community, noting his visionary leadership as president from 1998 to 2021 and earlier as finance secretary. He also served in various capacities, including as councillor of Naga Council Dimapur, vice president of the Nagaland GB Federation, and inspector in the Food and Civil Supply Department.
The Western Chakhesang Students’ Union described him as a leader of integrity, compassion and strength whose guidance will continue to inspire generations.
The Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation praised his wisdom, humility and principled service, calling his passing an irreparable loss to the community.
The Western Chakhesang Mother’s Association lauded his enduring legacy and the devoted care shown by his family during his prolonged illness.
All four organizations conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
