The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) and Sümi Hoho convened a significant coordination meeting at Chozuba village on 18 May 2024 and resolved to ‘forgive and forget’ their past incoherent behavior or actions that have created misunderstandings between the two brethren.

This included the infamous 5 September 2023 incident at Chozuba Town, which they jointly resolved to treat as a ‘closed chapter.’ Consequently, the statement made by the Chozuba Range Public Organization regarding disassociation from the Sumi Chakhesang Brotherhood was withdrawn with immediate effect.

This marked a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen the bond of brotherhood between the two communities.

In a joint declaration, the two Naga communities also resolved to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between the members of both communities and promote mutual support and assistance in times of need. The parties also committed to treating all members of both communities with dignity and respect, irrespective of their background, beliefs, or affiliations.

Additionally, they declared that any amendments to the Joint Declaration must be made in writing and signed by authorized representatives of both parties.

This Joint Declaration was executed by Vezuhu Keyho, President of CPO, and I Nikheto Jimomi, President of Sümi Hoho. It was noted that this declaration shall remain in effect indefinitely unless terminated by mutual consent of both parties.

“This Joint Declaration serves as a testament to the commitment of Sumi and Chakhesang to promote and strengthen a harmonious and supportive relationship between the two communities for generations to come,” it added.

According to a statement received here, leaders from both organizations assembled to discuss mutual interests, address common challenges, and explore avenues for cooperation.

The meeting began with an invocation by Rev Hukugha Zhimo, Sr Pastor Satakha Town Baptist Church and concluded with a benediction by Rev Dr Vezopa Tetseo, Sr Pastor Chakhesang Baptist Church Diphupar.
