The 43rd general session of the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) – cum – Chakhesang Day was held today at Phek town under the theme “Celebrating Legacy, Embracing Progress” and hosted by the Phek Town Public Forum (PTPF).

Addressing the gathering, Power and Parliamentary Affairs Minister KG Kenye stated that the Chakhesang tribe should be peace crusaders in the present Naga society. He also appreciated the CPO leaders for tirelessly working for the welfare of the community and its interests.

Former Minister K Therie also exhorted the gathering, calling upon the Chakhesang community to love one another in the name of Christ and in the name of the good virtues of their forefathers.

Meanwhile, Nomination Committee Convenor Nuzota Swuro announced the new office bearers of the CPO for the 2025-2027 tenure. The new office bearers are as follows:

A dedicatory prayer for the new CPO team was led by Rev Dr Chekrovei Cho-o, Executive Secretary of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council.

The program was chaired by CPO Vice President Vecito Dozo, and the welcome address was delivered by Api Vadeo, President of PTPF.

Earlier, CPO President Vezuhu Keyho delivered the presidential address, while the general secretary’s and finance secretary’s reports were presented by Chepetso Koza and Satahi Shiijo, respectively.

Among the many resolutions adopted at the session, the CPO appealed to the NPGs to uphold peace and refrain from any form of violence within the Chakhesang jurisdiction. The resolution was read out by Resolution Committee Convenor Dr. Chotisuh Sazo.

The CPO resolved to promote quality population growth in Chakhesang villages and areas as a vital step toward the holistic development and prosperity of the community. The CPO will cooperate with the relevant census enumeration authorities to ensure the successful conduct of the next general census with honesty, as stated in the resolution.
