The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) has written to the Governor of Nagaland, urging intervention to ensure the timely completion of the Kohima to Jessami Road (Package 2) under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH). The letter, dated February 27, 2025, references a prior representation submitted to Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for MoRTH, outlining concerns about delays, inadequate machinery, and substandard workmanship impacting the progress of the vital infrastructure project.

The CSU emphasized that this road is crucial for the people of the region, offering better connectivity, economic growth, and overall development. “This vital road infrastructure holds immense significance for the people of the region, ensuring better connectivity, economic growth, and overall development,” the union stated in their letter.

However, the ongoing delays and reported quality issues have caused significant hardships for commuters and residents. The CSU urged that the project be completed within the stipulated timeframe to avoid further delays. The letter requested that the authorities provide adequate equipment to ensure smooth and efficient construction. Further, the CSU has called for strict monitoring of the project to maintain high construction standards and safety protocols.
