Mokokchung, March 5 (MTNews): Mokokchung Police has, with the assistance of Dimapur Police, arrested two persons in connection to the report of “unidentified miscreants” demanding cash from the contractors engaged in the ongoing construction works at Changtongya-Dikhu road. The miscreants were also reported to have taken away the keys of construction equipment and vehicles from the site.

 

Langpangkong Tzükong Mungdang and AKM had earlier condemned the extortion demand that happened on February 27, and had set March 2 as the deadline for the miscreants to return the keys.

 

It is reported that the police apprehended the miscreants on March 2. A press release from the IGP (CID) Nagaland, Kohima, informed that, basing on a “complaint that miscreants demanding extortion had robbed the keys of a JCB engaged in earth cutting work,” a case was registered at Changtongya Police Station on February 27 and that Mokokchung Police immediately launched an operation and with the assistance of Dimapur Police, arrested two persons. The duo were identified as Wapang Imchen, SS Tatar Ao Region NSCN (NIKKI), and Meyiwapang Aier, SS Leacy NSCN (NIKKI). A .32 pistol along with seven (07) live rounds were also seized from their possession, the press note informed.
