The Changtongya Senso Telongjem Mokokchung observed the Tsüngremmung Festival at Sangtemla Hall, near Town Hall, Mokokchung, on August 3.

Alemtozung, Tatar of Kosasanger Putu Menden Changtongya, spoke about the festival’s significance and noted its decline with the advent of Christianity, which led to a shift away from traditional beliefs and costumes.

However, he highlighted a positive trend among the current generation, who are working to revive this cultural heritage and recognize its importance to their identity and roots.

C Longkok, an in-law of Changtongya, reminisced about the Morung system, where different age groups of boys and girls would participate in these traditions. He encouraged the community to view this revival not as a one-time event but as a continuous effort to celebrate their festivals with the same enthusiasm as their ancestors.
