The All Ward Union Changtongya Town, the Tuli Town Ward Union, and the All Ward Chairman Mangkolemba have extended their support to the All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT), stating that they support the latter’s representation submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung on 6 November 2024.

It may be recalled that the AWUMT, in its letter to the DC, had conveyed its resolution and reaffirmation to maintain the local bodies perpetually, stating that no authority has the power to disband or phase out the ward committees.

“If the government is of the view that the ward authorities duplicate the functioning of the municipal/ town councils, the competent authority should specifically clarify the areas of duplication in order to avoid friction and confusion between the two entities,” the AWUMT had stated in its letter.

The support for AWUMT was announced in a statement jointly issued by Samuel Jamir, Chairman, All Ward Union, Changtongya Town; Akum Imsong, Chairman, Tuli Town Ward Union; and T Longri Longkumer, Convenor, All Ward Chairman, Mangkolemba.
