Mokokchung, November 24 (MTNews): The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (NVCO) has on Thursday urged the State Government to maintain reasonable prices and rates of commodities during the Christmas season. NVCO said that traders in Nagaland tend to take advantage of the festive season and sell goods and commodities at a higher price.

“Another big upset for every Hornbill Festival is the charges of much higher rates at Hornbill Site including food, drinks, clothes, organic and locally available stuffs, handicraft, etc.,” NVCO also said.

NVCO also said that it is time for the competent authority to control or ban the excessive “fund-raise” by various sections in the name of jubilees, conferences, church building construction, construction of memorial hall, etc by selling ‘moudi’, donation vouchers, calendar, lottery ticket, etc which it said can be termed as “day-light robbery” from citizens. “And the buffet ticket also starts from Rs.1000/- per head to Rs. 10,000” it remarked.

President of NVCO Kezhokhoto Savi urged the competent authority to have “mercy upon the common people as the rates of charges above amounts to unethical practices of businesses” and urged the state government and the district administration to immediately ban all these practices. “Enough is enough to allow such practices in our society; these practices are the root cause of price rise,” he said.

Deplorable road condition amounts to ‘human rights violation’

NVCO President Kezhokhoto Savi also said that all citizens are entitled to good roads, be it National Highway or State Highway or lanes, as roads are basic rights and needs of the people. He said that the present deplorable road condition in the state amounts to “Human Rights violation.”

NVCO urged the state government not to manipulate or divert fund meant for road works and “stop deducting commission.” He also urged the contractors to provide quality works and complete them within stipulated time frame. “It is unfortunate to come across certain contractors trying to draw the project money without doing any work,” he said.

  1. First off I want to say superb blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I have had trouble clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Cheers!

  6. Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your post seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The layout look great though! 8. The other day, while I was at work, my sister stole my iphone and tested to see if it can survive a 40 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now broken and she has 83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
