Chemistry in Multidisciplinary Research Conference held at NU

The inaugural session of the International Conference on Chemistry in Multidisciplinary Research (ICCMR 2026), organised by the Department of Chemistry, Nagaland University, was held on February 18, 2026, at I Ihoshe Kinimi Hall, Lumami. The three day conference is being conducted from February 18 to 20.


The session was chaired by Prof Ambrish Singh, Head of the Department of Chemistry. The introductory address was delivered by Dr M Indira Devi, who presented an overview of the Department of Chemistry. The felicitation ceremony was conducted by Dr Seram Dushila Devi.

In a message, Prof J K Patnaik, Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, highlighted the contribution of academic institutions to scientific advancement and spoke about initiatives undertaken by the university to promote research and innovation. Vice Chancellor in charge Prof B Kilangla Jamir stressed the gap between science and society, stating that economic growth alone cannot ensure sustainable solutions. She urged the adoption of multidisciplinary approaches and encouraged students to draw inspiration from the conference.

Registrar Dr Abemo thanked all participants and said the event marked an important milestone for the university. Prof Dipak Sinha, Pro Vice Chancellor of Medziphema Campus, highlighted the evolution of the conference into a multidisciplinary platform and encouraged student interaction with delegates.

The Abstract Book was released by the Chief Guest and dignitaries. Prof Santosh K Singh, Dean of the School of Science, spoke on the relevance of multidisciplinary approaches in addressing challenges such as climate change and poverty.

Guests of Honour Prof Virendra M Tiwari and Prof Mohammad Mobin also addressed the gathering. Prof Mobin introduced the “Design Your Degree Programme.” Chief Guest Prof Dr G D Yadav spoke on the theme “Think of Some Innovations” and proposed reforms in academic systems and education. Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented during the programme. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr I Tovishe Phucho, followed by a cultural performance by students.
