Mokokchung, October 14 (MTNews): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has said that, “despite the NDPP table thumping and their protests that the Enforcement Directorate grilling the CM is fake news,” there is no smoke without fire and added that ED interrogating the Chief Minister for 6 hours is not surprising.
“This interrogation is not the last and we expect more grilling in the days to come,” RPP said in a press release on Friday.
According to the party, the newspaper report that the army has declined to comment means that something is fishy.
The party then recalled how several months back the ED first interrogated 5 close confidants of CM Rio under Case No. ECIR/GWZO/09/2020/488, among which one of them was the Personal Assistant to the Chief Minister.
“It’s only natural that the Chief Minister himself should be interrogated,” the party continued.
While the question in everyone’s mind is whether the ED will pursue the matter to its logical conclusion or not, it’s amply clear that the CM cannot escape the net cast by the ED, the party added.
“The Chief Minister is now a ‘prisoner’ of the BJP and this will have intense ramifications for the state,” the press release further said.
The RPP also stated that it has come to their notice that the ED is also “vigorously chasing 10 NDPP seating MLAs” and added that ‘speculation is rife that the ED has built up cases of corruption against the 10 MLAs’.
“According to sources, these 10 MLAs may strike a bargain with the BJP to join the party,” the RPP claimed.
Similarly, given the aggressive pursuance of the case by the ED, the Rising Party pointed out that the Chief Minister joining the BJP cannot be ruled out either.
‘The NDPP is in a precarious position and there’s absolutely nothing the party can do about it,’ it concluded.
