Mokokchung, October 14 (MTNews): Refuting the news item published by The New Indian Express in which it was alleged that the Enforcement Directorate had questioned Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in connection with “the non-existent High Court, etc.” for several hours in a military facility at Rangapahar in Dimapur, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Nagaland has on Friday dismissed it as “fake news item.”
A press release from the CMO, which was received here through the DIPR, said that the “fake news item” published by Amit Mukherjee representing The New Indian Express has been circulating through various media and social media platforms.
“In this regard, it is made explicitly clear that the Chief Minister of Nagaland was never called by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with any matter connected with the High Court,” the press release stated.
It further stated that it was unfortunate that such ‘false and baseless allegations’ were being made without verification, primarily to cause ‘loss and injury’ to the reputation of the Chief Minister.
The press statement also read that action, in accordance with the law, is being initiated against those concerned and those who are responsible for the “reckless dissemination of this fake news.”
