MTimes: What an exciting semi-final match that was against Tseminyu, Congratulations! What do you have to say about that?
Chingwang: Thank you so much. Well, it was one of the toughest matches we have encountered. I think it was a 50/50 considering the playmaking from both the teams. But to be on the winning side I’m really happy for the Mon team as we dedicate this entire tournament to our 14 innocent brothers who lost their lives in the Oting incident. And of course, I would like to appreciate the Tseminyu district for their performance throughout the tournament.
MTimes: How prepared are you for the final?
Chingwang: It is our first ever final so we are really prepared, excited and hopefully we can go home with a trophy. It is going to be a tough final against a very good Dimapur team. But like I said, we are well prepared and confident.
MTimes: How impressed are you with your team?
Chingwang: I’m really confident with my team. We have come a long way. We have dreamed of these glory days for a very long time. And our team is a mixture of both young and experienced players like brother Lemtong, Ating, Sanyem, Laiwang and Amun. We have experienced young and dynamic players like Eshong, Pangteih, Longo and Langphong. Our team is composed and well-balanced so, I am confident with my team.
MTimes: What do you think about Dimapur’s team?
Chingwang: Well, they have always been a very competitive team for a very long time. Dimapur have always produced talented players for our state and under the management of Sir Mughato they have inspired and achieved. They are one of the favorite teams and I’m not surprised to see them in the final. We are looking forward to an exciting final.
MTimes: What has your experience been like in Mokokchung?
Chingwang: An amazing host. One of the cleanest places on earth with wonderful people. Their love and passion for this wonderful game is just amazing. Getting their support to our team means a lot and there couldn’t be a better host than the Mokokchung district.
MTimes: Has Nagaland football improved according to you?
Chingwang: Well, in my personal opinion, we have a long way to go. But there has been quite an improvement as compared to the last few decades. And I believe we can improve a lot in years to come.
