Chonthingla Shimray, wife of Longvibu, Naga Army, passes Away at 57; Muivah expresses deep sorrow

Chonthingla Shimray, the wife of General Ningkhan Shimray, Longvibu of the Naga Army, passed away on January 7 at the Referral Hospital in Dimapur after a brief illness.

Following her passing, Th Muivah, the leader of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN), expressed his profound sorrow at the loss of Mrs. Shimray. In a statement, Muivah said, “It is with profound sorrow and an unbearable sense of loss that I received the news of Mrs. Chonthingla Shimray’s passing away.”

According to Muivah, Shimray, who passed away at the Referral Hospital in Dimapur after a brief illness, leaves behind a void that “words cannot begin to fill”. Her life was marked by extraordinary dedication and service, having joined the national service on April 1, 1981. “She lived a life of extraordinary purpose, devoting herself to every task and cause with unmatched zeal and sincerity,” Muivah wrote, emphasizing her resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment.

“To me, she was like a daughter-someone who held a special place in my heart and in my family’s life. Her vibrant energy, compassionate soul, relentless pursuit of excellence, wisdom and wittiness remain etched in my memory. She carried out her duties both at home and abroad with grace, leaving behind a legacy of service and sacrifice that will forever be honored,” continued Muivah.

Her death has left an “unimaginable void” not only in the lives of her family but also in the hearts of all who admired her spirit and dedication. “The grief of her loss is beyond words, and I feel a deep and personal pain at her departure,” Muivah stated, acknowledging the profound impact she had on those around her.
