Chümoukedima completed a perfect group stage run with a clinical 2-0 victory over neighbours Dimapur in Match 23 of the Dr T Ao Trophy 2025 on Friday afternoon. The win secured their place at the top of Group B with maximum points and an impeccable defensive record.
Chümoukedima dominated from the outset, controlling possession and stretching Dimapur’s backline with swift passing and well-timed runs. Their breakthrough came in the 18th minute when Lima rose highest to head home a corner from the left taken by Vikholie. Twelve minutes later, the duo combined again, this time from a corner on the right, with Lima once more nodding the ball into the net to double the lead.
Dimapur struggled to find a way through Chümoukedima’s disciplined defence and registered few meaningful attempts on goal. The match saw yellow cards for Hesaka of Dimapur and Devika of Chümoukedima for separate fouls, but the contest remained largely under control.
The second half was a testament to Chümoukedima’s defensive organisation as they comfortably saw out the game to claim their third consecutive clean sheet. With nine points from three matches, they head into the knockout stage as one of the tournament’s strongest contenders. They will face the runner-up of an unpredictable Group A in the quarterfinal.
