The Chümoukedima Village Youth Society (CVYS) has reiterated its standing resolution imposing a total ban on hunting, fishing, and all activities that endanger or deplete the flora and fauna within the jurisdiction of Chümoukedima Village. The society has issued strict directives for public compliance and warned residents and visitors about the consequences of violating these regulations.

CVYS stated that any individual found engaging in hunting or related activities will be sternly dealt with, with a minimum penalty of Rs 1,00,000 depending on the severity of the act. Carrying firearms within the village is strictly prohibited. Licensed firearms used for hunting will be confiscated and recommended for license cancellation, while unlicensed firearms, air rifles, and other hunting implements will be seized and destroyed immediately.

A stern warning has also been issued against individuals or groups responsible for starting wildfires and causing environmental damage. Offenders will face severe penalties, including fines of Rs 5,00,000 or more depending on the extent of destruction. Legal action will be pursued as per the provisions of the law.

Access to the Old Chümoukedima Heritage Village (Highway Bypass) is restricted for trekkers, picnic groups, and sightseers after 6:00 PM. The move follows incidents of vandalism, defacement of public property, and accidents that have resulted in loss of life. Visitors are urged to maintain cleanliness, dispose of waste responsibly, especially plastic waste, and respect all cautionary signboards, including speed limits and the prohibition of underage driving.

Loitering within the village without valid reason after 8:00 PM is strictly prohibited due to rising incidents of robbery, drug peddling, and public nuisance. Youth volunteers on duty have been instructed to verify the identity and purpose of individuals during restricted hours. CVYS has appealed to all residents and visitors to cooperate with volunteers in maintaining law and order, preserving the natural environment, upholding community discipline, and ensuring the safety and dignity of Chümoukedima Village. The society emphasized that collective efforts are essential for protecting the village’s ecology and public order.
