The first phase of Civil Defence (CD) Wardens and Volunteers training was successfully conducted at Town Hall, Mokokchung, concluding on 24th November 2025. Organized by the Department of Home Guards, Civil Defence, and State Disaster Response Force, Nagaland, the week-long programme ran from 18th to 24th November.
The training aimed to empower communities with essential skills and knowledge to save lives, minimise property damage, and maintain essential services during emergencies such as hostile attacks or natural disasters. It focused on protecting citizens and infrastructure through prevention, preparedness, timely response, and recovery efforts.
In his closing address, Neithozo Theunuo, EAC, congratulated the trainees and expressed gratitude to the Home Guards, Civil Defence, and SDRF for their dedication. He highlighted the critical role of wardens and volunteers during emergencies, noting the government’s formal recognition of their contributions through the issuance of ID cards and certificates.
Neithozo encouraged participants to share their experiences and stressed the importance of continuous training to meet evolving challenges in disaster management.
Assamwati, Council Chairman of Chungtia Village and a trainee representative, also shared positive feedback on the programme.
The event ended with a vote of thanks by Lanutemjen, Company Commander of HG, CD & SDRF, who acknowledged the support from the district administration, Senior SP, DPRO, Ao Senden, Watsu, village councils, and MMC. Closing remarks were given by Abovi K. Awomi, instructor Havildar, offering encouragement to the trainees as they move forward.
