Changtongya, 25 April (MTNews): Changtongya Kaketshir Telungjem (CKT) conducted an inspection drive on Thursday to check for expired food items being sold in shops in Changtongya town. The students’ body identified several expired items in 17 shops, which were confiscated and disposed of in the presence of SDO (C) Changtongya, C Wangan.

Selling expired food items is prohibited under Section 273 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 7 of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954.

Arensashi, the President of CKT, stated that consuming food items past their expiry dates can be harmful to health, especially for children. He appealed to consumers to be cautious and added that CKT would remain vigilant to check the sale of expired food items.
