Mokokchung, 1 February (MTNews): A one-day inter-college seminar was held at Clark Theological College on 30 January 2024, organized by the Clark Theological College Students’ Union (CTCSU) on the theme “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education” featuring Er Daniel Meren, Additional Director of NIELIT Dimapur, as the distinguished resource person.
In the first session, Er Daniel Meren delved on the topic “Academic Integrity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges.” He emphasized on the emergence of AI, especially AI-generated tools, and the transformative role of AI in education. His presentation covered ChatGPT, AI’s potential and concerns in personalized learning, skill development and educational technology trends. Daniel Meren emphasized on collaboration of AI where students and educators can be fruitful in the teaching-learning process.
Followed by the presentation was a dynamic discussion moderated by Prof. L Imsutoshi Jamir who laid the foundation for discussions ensued with participants actively engaging in dialogue about the ethical considerations, challenges and future implications of integrating AI into the education sector.
The afternoon session witnessed a debate on the topic “Citizen Journalism: A Reliable Source of News and Information” which was moderated by Dr. Renbi Rangthang. Altogether, ten debaters from Fazl Ali College, Jubilee Memorial College, People’s College, Nagaland Bible College and Clark Theological College participated. The participants were involved in a lively debate sharing perspectives on the impact of citizen journalism on media credibility and public discourse.
Participants further initiated the advantages and challenges of citizen journalism, exploring its role in democratizing information dissemination and the responsibility it carries in maintaining accuracy and ethics.
The best debater was bagged by Ms Tiarenla (Fazl Ali College). The closing ceremony was chaired by Keteinla, General Secretary (CTCSU). An enthralling performance was presented by Stereo Groove.
Earlier in the morning, devotion was led by Dr Toshi Aier, fostering a sense of unity and responsibility. Rev Dr A Temjen Jamir, Principal CTC, set the tone for the seminar with a warm welcome address and introduction.
The seminar closed with vote of thanks by Mr Moachiba, President (CTCSU) and benediction by Dr Aorenla Longchar.
