Over 150 students and faculties participate in eco-peace drive from Tongdentsüyong Ward to Public Ground in collaboration with MMC
Clark Theological College (CTC) organized an eco-peace drive on Saturday, covering the stretch from Tongdentsüyong Ward to the Public Ground, aimed at cleaning up the town in collaboration with the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC).
Describing the initiative as a “peace initiative, a small action,” A Tali Ao, Academic Dean of CTC, said, “CTC has been engaged with the Clark Centre for Peace Research and Action (CCPRA) for over 10 years. We decided to undertake this peace initiative for ecological, holistic, social, and political purposes.” He added that cleanliness drives is one among the features of the initiative.
Kilep, Inspector of the Sanitation Committee, MMC, stated that the MMC guided and supported the students in waste segregation and ensured that plastic waste was deposited separately at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
Over 150 students participated in the drive, along with faculty members who joined in to demonstrate solidarity and support for the initiative. Participants began as early as 4:30 am, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment in Mokokchung.
The drive culminated with a brief service at MTBA Church, led by Sunepjungla, with prayers offered by Pastor Yanglu of MTBA.
