MTimes: Thanks for the time, Aseno. You just recently dropped Crocodile Tears with Sunep Lemtur. What are your thoughts on the reception?

Aseno: With amazing and supportive people around me and elsewhere, I’ve received a plethora of love and support again on this new song,  “Crocodile tears”. Till now, I’ve not encountered any rude or bad comments about it to which I’m very thankful to everyone as they only showed kindness and support. I’m getting to know that people are enjoying and loving the song, so I’m contented with all the acknowledgement, love, and support.

MTimes: It is quite an entertaining and catchy song. I love the confidence you had in the video. How and where are you drawing your inspirations from?

Aseno: Thank you. Well, it is all the motivation and dedication of Sir Sunep Lemtur. He is such a creative person who can light up everyone. I’m very thankful to him for believing in me and he always encourages me to open up my feelings and emotions in the songs. And him just being a jolly person lightens my spirit up to do better and be gleeful. Also, the encouraging words I get from my family and friends always cheer me up and keep me motivated.

MTimes: We know you as a singer, and a content creator on various social media platforms, but can you tell us a little more about yourself and how you got involved in the field of arts and entertainment?

Aseno: Talking about myself, my good name is Ruokuosanuo Metha but I use Aseno Metha as my stage name. Currently, I’m working as a music teacher at Parikrama school of music, Delhi. Growing up in a Christian family, and going to church, I was greatly influenced by music. My parents were very supportive of my passion, and I started singing in the church and then in school.

As I grew up participating in small stages, so I got acknowledged by people. With the support of family and friends, I took part in a reality singing show called,” you know you got it”, in 2014. With God’s grace and support from everyone, I got the title of first runner-up. I would say that this was the turning point in my life. I got more exposure to this field and started receiving a lot of opportunities to perform in various stages.

MTimes: What else are you interested in apart from creating music? Do you have a plan or any direction you wish to take your career ahead?

Aseno: Apart from music, I also enjoy gardening, dancing, and exploring things. I don’t have a specific hobby, I just enjoy learning new things and having a good time with my dear and loved ones.

MTimes: You also have hits like ‘Momo girl’, and now ‘Crocodile Tears’ both of which are doing exceptionally well. Is there a personal story behind all this?

Aseno: When Sir Sunep approached me and talked about creating a Nagamese comedy song which is “Momo girl”, I was a little sceptical about it. I never imagined myself singing a Nagamese song and so I thought I won’t be able to make it. I was also very concerned about how people will react to it. I was scared what if I become a living meme.

But then, I realized that I should not hinder myself and do something completely out of the box. I wanted to challenge myself and work hard on it so that I could make people happy and be proud of my language. Also, the zeal and dedication of Sir Sunep had a great influence on me to work with him in creating Nagamese comedy songs.

MTimes: How would you describe your type of music?

Aseno: I don’t have a specific type or genre of music. I love listening to different styles and genres of music. I’m a versatile listener. Recently, I’ve been listening to a lot of jazz music.

MTimes: With whom would you like to collaborate in the future?

Aseno: Ah! It’s hard to say because all the Naga musicians are incredible. I’m open to everyone, I would love to collaborate with every one of them someday. But if I were to choose one particular person, I would like to work with this amazing lady, Kekhrie Ringa. I think she is such a mellifluous singer and is known as The boho singer.

MTimes: What has been the biggest challenge for you as a content creator, and how did you overcome it?

Aseno: This is just the beginning of my journey in being a content creator and I’m aware that I still have a lot of space to fill to become a good content creator. These days, we see a lot of talented people with great ideas, so sometimes it’s hard to think big but with all the support I get, I try to challenge myself to do better, not see others as a competition to me but to improve myself and do what I love.

I cannot say that I’ve never faced any negative comments. Portraying yourself in this world of social media itself is a big challenge. I always try to bring a positive outcome towards negativity and I realize that I have people who always thought the best of me and keep on rooting for me for whatever I do so that’s what keeps me going.

MTimes: What advice would you give to anyone who wants to become a successful Instagrammer?

Aseno: I don’t consider myself a successful Instagram yet, and it would be absurd for me to give any advice. But all I can say is keep on doing what you want to, do what inspires and excites you, and then you’ll see yourself growing. You’ll face criticisms, take them but don’t let them bring you down. Social media can sometimes distort your mind but pull it back together, create new ideas, learn from other successful content creators and make the best use of what you have i.e, your talents and passion.

MTimes: A message to our readers

Aseno: First of all, I particularly like to thank the Mokokchung Times for giving me this opportunity to talk about my experiences. I want to convey my heartfelt thanks to everyone. I am overwhelmed by the help, love, and support I get, I will be always grateful to everyone and assure to do my best in the coming days. I am highly appreciative of your remarks, comments and best wishes. I never expected this immense amount of support but you got it going and helped me reach this position. Also, I’m looking forward to working on another song but it will be an English song. So, I’m hoping for your continuous support.

Thank you all for your time, love, and support.

God Bless.
