Directs DCs to activate District Security Coordination Committees to prevent ‘unnatural influx’
Amid the ongoing political crisis in Bangladesh, an update from the office of Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Y Patton, announced today that the state’s civil administration and police department are closely monitoring the situation in the neighboring country and prepared for any possible impact on Nagaland.
According to a press release from the Media Cell of the Deputy CM’s Office, the Deputy CM and Home Minister is keenly aware of the potential effects of the crisis in Bangladesh and its fallout in Nagaland.
To prevent an unnatural influx of migrants into the state, Deputy Commissioners of all districts have been instructed to activate their District Security Coordination Committees immediately, the release said. The civil administration and police have also been advised to maintain a close watch on border areas and to coordinate closely with their counterparts in Assam.
The release further noted that instructions have been given to keep all communication channels open for the prompt sharing of information. The State Government, led by the district administration and police, is attentive to the unfolding situation. With support from robust village administration, civil society organizations, and the public, Nagaland is “well-prepared to deal with any situation that may arise,” the release added.
