President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, K. Therie said today in a press statement that Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) coalition were not prepared for solution yet.

He stated that the Nagaland State Govt know that the people of Nagaland want to implement the “Agreed Position of the Working Committee of NNPGs” and that they also know that the “Framework Agreement (FA) has ruled out sovereignty and integration.” He said, “Therefore, talks for Nagaland have concluded.”

“They have never told the Union Govt. to go ahead with settlement. If any settlement, it will be because of the pressure of the people and the Congress. We have made our stand very clear to Shri RN Ravi the then Interlocutor and GOI,” Therie also said.

He also lashed out at his “friend” Neiphiu Rio saying that “after being elected Leader of the House and Chief Minister for almost 20 years, he is found not worried about the people of Nagaland… He cannot reason with GOI nor with NSCN(IM) leaders to solve the problem.” Therie added that Rio is “lacking in courage and wisdom to bring settlement.”

Therie also said that what Dr. S C Jamir stated should have been spoken by the Chief Minister of Nagaland “if he is for Nagas of Nagaland.” He also alleged that “NSCN(IM) has failed 25 years in the same class. This is purely an intellectual failure.”
