Mokokchung, 23 November (MTNews): For the first time in the history of the state, 25 girl students from Nagaland will be participating in the Republic Day Parade 2024 at Kartavya Path, New Delhi. Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed his happiness over the news and wished the best for the girls.

Each year, NCC cadets from across the country participate in various events and competitions in the prestigious Republic Day Camp held by HQ Directorate General NCC, New Delhi. This year, 25 NCC Junior Wing cadets from St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School, Kohima will be part of the NCC Brass Band at the Republic Day Camp in New Delhi. These cadets, aged 13 to 15, will march in the Republic Day Parade 2024 as part of the Marching Band for the NCC North Eastern Region Directorate.

On Thursday, the NCC Group Commander and officials from the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland called on Chief Minister Rio and briefed him about the same.

“I am happy to know that for the first time in the history of Nagaland, 25 NCC junior wing cadets of St. Mary’s Cathedral Hr. Sec. School Kohima, will be part of the NCC Brass Band, representing the NE Region during the Republic Day Parade 2024, New Delhi. I wish them the best,” Rio posted on X (Twitter).

The NCC Girls Brass Band representing the NCC North Eastern Region Directorate will also include cadets from St. Francis de Sales Higher Secondary School, Guwahati.

The girl cadets have been preparing in full swing with respect to their new uniform and training at institutional level. They have also been attending training camp at Assam Rifles, Kohima and will next attend their Pre-RDC camp in December before setting out for the Republic Day Camp at DG NCC, New Delhi.
