Coinciding with the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the launch forms part of the larger vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, which aims to transform India into a developed nation by the centenary of Independence.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Rio said, “In Nagaland, the campaign will focus on health and nutrition for women, adolescent girls, and children. Its objectives include strengthening early detection and treatment linkages for diseases, delivering essential health services at the grassroots, and encouraging families to adopt healthy lifestyles.”

The campaign will see health camps organized across 523 health units in the state, including 12 District Hospitals, 26 Community Health Centres (CHCs), 8 Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs), 97 Health & Wellness Centres-PHCs, 336 HWC-Sub Centres, and 49 AYUSH HWCs. The Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (NIMSR), along with private hospitals and clinics, will provide specialist services during the initiative.

Services on offer include screening for non-communicable diseases, reproductive and child healthcare, nutrition and menstrual hygiene awareness, tuberculosis screening and counselling, mental health support, and holistic care through AYUSH, including yoga and lifestyle guidance.

Acknowledging the critical role of healthcare personnel, Dr Rio recognized the contributions of doctors, nurses, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, and community volunteers, stating that their dedication “forms the backbone of the programme.” He called for collective efforts toward universal health coverage to ensure that no one is left behind in the journey toward a healthier and more prosperous future.

Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Anoop Khinchi, IAS, described SNSPA as “a landmark initiative of the Ministries of Health & Family Welfare and Women & Child Development,” noting that the programme is designed to strengthen healthcare services for women and children across the country through improved access, better quality care, and increased awareness. “With more than one lakh health camps being organised nationwide, it is the largest health outreach of its kind,” he added.

As part of the campaign, Dr Rio virtually launched the Integrated Public Health Laboratory at District Hospital Dimapur and District Hospital Mon. He also flagged off newly inducted ambulances, hearse vans, and Rapid Response Team vehicles to strengthen health service delivery in the state. Minister of Health & Family Welfare P. Paiwang Konyak noted that Nagaland has received 26 ambulances, 12 hearse vans, and 6 Boleros as Rapid Response Team vehicles.

The fortnight-long campaign, running from 17th September to 2nd October 2025, will culminate on Gandhi Jayanti and offers citizens a “basket of free health services,” including:
·Preventive and Screening Services: Blood pressure, sugar, cancer, tuberculosis, HIV, malaria, and dengue screening.
·Reproductive and Child Health: ANC/PNC services, immunization, family planning, anemia, and hygiene support.
· Specialized and Holistic Care: Eye, ENT, dental, geriatric, mental health counseling, nutrition and diet guidance, AYUSH services including yoga.
·Access and Support: Ayushman Bharat-ABHA ID registration, PMJAY and CMHIS registration, blood and organ donation drives, and mobile medical units for on-site care.

The launch of SNSPA in Nagaland marks a significant step toward building healthier families and empowered communities across the state, reinforcing the government’s commitment to maternal and child health under the National Health Mission.
