The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) has expressed deep appreciation to the Dimapur Police for their prompt and commendable action in rescuing four kidnapped businessmen from Dimapur. The police reportedly took suo motu cognizance of the case on October 8.

In a press statement, the CNCCI also urged the police to book the culprits and take strict action against the group involved, ensuring the severest punishment to deter future incidents.

The CNCCI stated that such proactive and decisive action by the police restores public confidence and helps maintain a safe environment for the business community to operate without fear or intimidation.

However, the Confederation noted that incidents of kidnapping and intimidation of businessmen have become a recurring issue, with many cases going unreported due to fear and threats. It expressed concern that businessmen are sometimes summoned to various camps, leaving both the business community and the general public feeling helpless in the face of such actions by armed groups.

The CNCCI urged the Dimapur Police to make public the names of individuals and groups involved in such anti-national activities carried out in the name of the Naga National Movement. It stated that such actions undermine the true principles of the movement and bring disrepute to the cause and aspirations of the Naga people, as well as to the image of “Nagaland for Christ.”

Reaffirming its commitment, the CNCCI said it stands ready to support all efforts that promote peace, safety, and lawful conduct within the business community and society at large.
