CNCCI to institute Business Award

Mokokchung, August 22 (MTNews): The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) have informed that it has resolved to institute the CNCCI Business Award “to encourage, promote and identify promising and genuine entrepreneurs and businessmen who are excelling in various fields.”

In this connection, CNCCI said that all the District Chambers of Commerce and Industry will be given an opportunity to nominate two of the best entrepreneurs/ Businessmen under the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry to be felicitated and awarded at the state level by the CNCCI.

It was informed that the CNCCI has identified 17 trades and fields to be awarded where the District CCI can nominate 2 out of 17 categories.

The respective Chamber of Commerce has been requested to submit the nomination to the office of the CNCCI before 10th of September 2022. “The certification will have an endorsement from various government agencies and financial institutions which may help the awardees for furthering their business in the long run,” CNCCI added.

General guidelines and criteria for the selection of candidates for “The CNCCI Business Award 2022”:

1. The nominated person must be a bonafide member of the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry with an active and valid membership.

2. The nominated person must be an entrepreneur who is continuously engaged in the same filed for at least 3 (three) years and generating employment and helping to promote local economy.

3. The nominated person must be someone who has been pursuing active business to earn their livelihood and not employed by the government.

4. The nominated person should be forthcoming to assist the business community and should have the principal of healthy business competition.

6. The nominated person should have a good character and possess entrepreneurship skills and an asset to the society.

7. The nominated person should have ethical business practices.

AWARD CATEGORIES:

1. Business on Digital Platform

Business or firms which primarily use technology in ways to deliver new business capabilities in innovate and transformative ways in our society.

2. Sales and Service

Any business or firm engaged in selling of goods and services which primarily falls under B2B sales (Business-to-business sales), B2C sales (business-to-consumer sales), Enterprise sales, SaaS (Software-as-a-service) and Direct sales (Multiple businesses may be shortlisted here)

3. Hospitality and Travel

This includes business and firms engaged in the business of ticketing which includes travel agencies which have been operating locally here in Nagaland.

4. Handicraft and Cottage Industry

As the name suggests this involves those in handicraft business and small businesses which have been catering to the local markets. They have also been preserving our culture and traditions by engaging in this business

5. Innovative Enterprises

Firms or businesses with new and exciting ideas or ventures which stand out from the rest. These are businesses that have brought in fresh wave of idea or way to generate revenue in the business community.

6. Agro Based Industry

As we all know that approximately 70% of the population is dependent on agriculture and agro- based industries. There is no denying the fact that this sector. As far as Nagaland is concerned there are two primary upcoming agro based industries which are tea and coffee which has seen quite a number of people venturing unto this sector.

7. Trading and Retail

As the name aptly suggests this involves two terms wherein trading involves buying and selling of goods whereas retailing/business involves all activities performed by a business entity.

8. Advertising Agencies and Fashion Influencers Generating Revenues

In recent times Nagaland has witnessed a healthy growing number of people who are engaged in the above mentioned activities. These are based on print, periodicals, brochures, mail, radio, billboards, directories, display, videos, television, email etc. which have a wider reach to the target audience and have impacted the sales and growth of businesses positively.

9. Consumer Products and Services

This relates to any goods or services, including contracts, projects etc. for personal or family purposes in our day to day lives.

10. Education & Skill Development

This sector is a key sector and plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our society. It acts as a key enabler for inclusive growth and sustainable development and stimulates economic growth thereby improving the standard of living. Businesses such as coaching institutes, firms engaged in imparting and generating employment for the locals through skill development and trainings who also have proven track record are to be identified here

11. Event Planners and Management

This refers to those firms engaged in a variety of functions for executing large-scale events, which might include weddings, conferences, conventions, concerts, trade shows, festivals and ceremonies.

12. Financial Services (CA & Sales Tax)

Financial services are the key backbone of any business. They are the economic services provided by those in the finance industry. It encompasses a broad range of activities such as firms or individuals who manage our accounts or file our GST returns or ITR.

13. Health Including Beauty and Wellness

The health and wellness industry encompasses all activities which promote our physical and mental well-being. They range from a beauty parlor to a salon to a spa to even gyms to nutritionists and any activity engaged in creating a healthier and better lifestyle for us.

14. Organic Start-ups

Any business or activity wherein the system of production is capable of avoiding or block the use of pesticides, synthetically compounded fertilizers, livestock feed, additives and growth regulators.

15. Logistics and Transportation (Delivery services and start-up)

This refers to firms or businesses engaged in the business of getting products and services from one location to another making our life much more easier in the long run.

16. Manufacturing including Food and Beverages/Food Processing

Firms or businesses engaged in manufacturing or creation or production of goods with the help or use of equipment, labor, machine, tools and chemical or biological processing or formulation. It is to be noted that this sector is the essence of secondary sector of the economy.

17. Eco tourism and community based economic initiatives

This basically refers to domestic tourism which are directed towards exotic, natural environment which are intended to support conservation efforts and promote tourism through community efforts generating revenue and employment at local level.
