The Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA) has extended its unwavering support to the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) and the Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) in their demand for the immediate revocation of the controversial Government Order dated December 17, 2024, which regularized 147 backdoor appointments in the Department of Higher Education.
In a strong statement issued on Sunday, CNSA asserted that the order undermines the principles of meritocracy, transparency, and equal opportunity, and described it as a direct insult to thousands of qualified aspirants preparing for the NPSC Common Educational Services Examination (CESE).
The CNSA echoed concerns raised by CTAN and NNQF over the violation of the Office Memorandum (No. AR-5/ASSO/98 dated June 6, 2016), which explicitly prohibits contract appointments. The association warned that regularizing these positions in defiance of official policy sets a dangerous precedent that could “erode public trust in our educational institutions and governance structures.”
Lauding the proactive efforts of CTAN and NNQF, CNSA praised their call for the cancellation of the order and the termination of appointees employed after the 2016 memorandum, noting their commitment to upholding the integrity of the recruitment system.
The CNSA urged the Government of Nagaland, particularly the Department of Higher Education, to heed the concerns of the student community and act swiftly to revoke the order. It further called for the restoration of a transparent, merit-based recruitment process that reflects the values of fairness and justice.
“We stand united with CTAN, NNQF, and all like-minded organizations in our collective pursuit of a just and equitable educational system,” the CNSA concluded.
