Mokokchung, June 9 (MTNews): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has lauded the state government for “heeding to the long cry of the common public in removing the check-gates” but at the same time asked why prices of essential commodities has not yet come down. “At the same time, when fuel prices have also come down, prices of all goods are yet to come down and there seems to be no respite for the common man,” CNTC said in a press release issued on Thursday.
It went on to state that levying of taxes on transporting agencies and goods vehicles at multiple check gates were said to be the main cause of price escalation, “so when all these gates have been removed, prices should also come down accordingly but it is not so.”
CNTC urged the state government to immediately look into the matter and “relieve the common public from this menace.”
