Mokokchung, August 29 (MTNews): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) on Monday stated that the yearning for genuine peace in the region can be brought only through political solution alone. “In the wake of demand for solution before election, the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) comprising of Aos, Sumis and Lothas, expects the Government of India to appreciate the patience of the citizens of Nagaland for all these 25 years,” CNTC said in a press note issued by its Media Cell on Monday.

Recalling the last assembly election in 2018, “when the civil societies and all political parties including the BJP unequivocally demanded for solution before election,” CNTC said that the BJP “breached the trust of the people” and filed nomination with a slogan “election for solution against the will and wishes of the people which is still fresh in our memory.”

In view of the above, CNTC reminded the GOI that unending political process has adversely affected the lives of every individual in the state and has taken huge toll on the entire system of governance.  ”It has heralded in unimaginable cycle of corruption at all levels, where education and overall infrastructural developments were in shambles, government projects are siphoned off brazenly through percentage cuts and shares, private businesses are grossly extorted by armed groups in the name of political issue,” CNTC claimed. It added that the ultimate victims were the unemployed youth and students whose future has been ruined due to unresolved Naga issue.

“Therefore, as the economic well being of everyday Naga family has completely collapsed in the absence of equitable welfare formula and governance, we appeal to the Prime Minister to invite the negotiating parties to resolve the contentious issue at the earliest,” CNTC appealed. It also reminded the Prime Minister on his assurance for a “vibrant society, which can be achieved only when there is peace.”
