Dimapur, September 17 (MTNews): Central Nagaland Women Association (CNWA) on Saturday felicitated Miss Vinika Kiho, the first Naga to successfully clear UPSC to the post of Public Prosecutor CBI.
Speaking on the occasion, Miss Kiho shed light on her journey in clearing the exam, stating that it was not an overnight task, but rather one that began with wanting to fight for justice for women and consequently, pursuing law. She began her legal career in the field of human rights, specially on rights for women.
Expressing gratitude to Senior Advocate Colin Gonsalves for granting the opportunity to work in the field of human rights, Miss Kiho emphasized that the opportunity shaped her and molded her to grow in the legal profession.
Recalling her past experience in the field, she spoke of being the representative of many underprivileged women who could not afford to have a legal counsel, and quoted Melinda Gates, “Women speaking up for themselves and for those around them is the strongest force we have to change the world.” In this light, she encouraged women to empathize with other women in difficulty and to provide help, be it legal or otherwise.
She further encouraged women to stand up for each other and to speak up when they see others in a tough situation. It was her aim to be in a position where Nagas are also recognized and acknowledged. Miss Kiho said that she would be glad to be an inspiration to younger Naga youth to pursue a career in law. She concluded by thanking God for leading her.
Meanwhile, CNWA wished her all the very best in her future endeavors. CNWA also extended their gratitude to CNTC and CNSA President and colleagues, Dimapur Watsu Telongiem, Lotha Eloe Ekhung, Sema Totimi Hoho, Nokditola Ozukum and Roseland Mollier for gracing the occasion.
