The Commissioner of State Taxes, Nagaland, has invited suggestions and feedback from business organizations and stakeholders to help improve the Ease of Doing Business in the state.

According to a communication received by the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), the exercise aims to gather inputs based on the practical experiences of the business community while dealing with regulatory and compliance-related processes in Nagaland.

The letter stated that the department is seeking “suggestions, observations, and opinions on issues that may positively affect business operations in the State and may make it easy for our upcoming entrepreneurs.” It noted that organizations regularly engaged with administrative systems are well placed to highlight procedural difficulties, compliance challenges, and areas where greater clarity or facilitation may be required.

While clarifying that the State Tax Department functions strictly within the framework of applicable Acts and Rules, the Commissioner said the initiative is intended to better understand ground-level experiences and concerns faced by businesses.

The Commissioner added that such inputs would help place stakeholder perspectives on record and contribute to a more informed appreciation of existing processes.

Business bodies have been requested to submit their written suggestions by January 29. Submissions can be sent either by post or through email.

The letter was issued by Abhinav Shivam, IAS, Commissioner of State Taxes, Nagaland.
