A Community Ambulance Distribution Programme was held on May 21 at Neo Motors, Dimapur, under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS). The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang, as the Special Guest.

Addressing the gathering, MP S Supongmeren Jamir emphasized the importance of unity, humility, and accountability among Naga leaders to foster meaningful change in the state. He urged tribal Hohos, NGOs, and civil society organizations to actively engage with elected representatives and assign responsibilities to ensure effective participation in Parliament. Highlighting the challenges of an opposition-less government in Nagaland, Jamir stated, “democracy suffers in such a system” and called on NGOs to play a guiding and watchdog role.
Jamir appealed for collective efforts to safeguard Naga identity, culture, and rights while resisting external pressures. He expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, hoho leaders, and vehicle providers and requested their continued support for the smooth functioning of NGO and civil society initiatives.
Special Guest Dr. Tinojongshi Chang appreciated the MP’s initiative in addressing the long-standing community need for ambulances through MPLADS. Reflecting on his first meeting with Jamir during his posting as EAC in 2003, Dr. Chang lauded the MP’s “consistent humility and commitment to public service.” He described Dimapur as a “mini Nagaland” and urged all communities to live in unity and cooperation. Dr. Chang assured that the MPLADS-funded ambulances would be used effectively for public welfare and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in achieving development goals.
The event was chaired by District Programme Officer Dimapur, N Chuba Phom, and featured a dedicatory prayer by Joikap Phom, Associate Women Pastor of Phom Baptist Attoi, Diphupar.
Four community ambulances were handed over to Ao Senden (Mokokchung), Chakhroma Public Organisation (Chümoukedima), Eastern Naga Public Union (Dimapur), and Western Sumi Hoho (Niuland, Chümoukedima & Dimapur). Representatives praised the MP for his grassroots commitment, calling him a leader who “walks the talk.” They noted the ambulances would improve emergency medical access, especially in remote areas, and assured their responsible use for the community’s benefit.
The General Manager of Neo Motors reiterated the company’s commitment to quality service and community support. He assured timely assistance through their dedicated contact team and the “Star Concept” network of workshops, advised using authorized dealers to avoid counterfeit parts, and recommended utility vehicles like the “Magic” for difficult terrains.
This ambulance distribution marks a significant step in enhancing emergency health response and accessibility across the region.
Western Sümi Hoho expresses gratitude to MP Supongmeren Jamir
The Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has expressed its gratitude to Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Supongmeren Jamir, for donating an ambulance to serve the Western Sümi community. The donation was made during the Community Ambulance Distribution Programme held at Neo Motors, 5th Mile, Chümoukedima on May 21, 2025.
The WSH lauded the MP for fulfilling his election promises and for reaching out to the grassroots by addressing a long-standing healthcare need. Describing the donation as a significant step forward for public health in the region, the organization noted that the ambulance would serve as a crucial link between rural areas and urban healthcare facilities.
In a statement, the WSH called on residents of Western Sümi areas, including Dimapur, Niuland, and Chümoukedima districts, to make proper use of the ambulance service in times of medical emergencies. The organization also commended the MP’s continued commitment to community welfare.
