We, the Christian community of Nagaland, strongly condemn the repeated actions of the state government that blatantly disregard our religious sentiments and compromise the sanctity of our faith. The most recent example being the decision to carry out official activities and keep government offices open on Sundays—our sacred day of worship.

Sunday is not simply a day off. For Christians, it is the Lord’s Day—a day devoted to worship, rest, and spiritual reflection. The government’s decision to function on this holy day is a direct insult to the religious values of the majority population in Nagaland. Such actions are not only insensitive but are perceived as deliberate attempts to undermine our religious and cultural identity.

This is not an isolated incident. We have observed with growing concern that the state government, on several occasions, has aligned itself with the ideology of the RSS—a Hindu nationalist organization whose vision is in direct conflict with the values of religious pluralism and secularism guaranteed by the Indian Constitution. By compromising with this ideology, the government risks alienating the Christian majority and threatening the social harmony of our state.

We, the people of Nagaland, will not remain silent as our faith and values are gradually sidelined. We demand that the government immediately stop all official activities on Sundays and refrain from taking decisions that reflect majoritarian bias.

We urge our elected representatives to act in accordance with the will of the people they serve, and to uphold the principles of justice, equality, and religious freedom. Let this serve as a firm reminder: the faith and culture of the Naga people are not negotiable.

Respect our faith. Respect our Sunday. Reject ideological bias.
