Peren, November 6 (MTNews): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Presidential tour covered Peren Region on the 5th of November 2022, wherein a meeting was organised at Town Hall, Peren in the presence of NDPP President Chingwang Konyak, the two MLAs representing Peren district, TR Zeliang and NamriNchang, and a host of Central Office Bearers, office bearers of Peren Region and members from the two Assembly Constituencies under Peren district.
An update from the NDPP Media & Communication Committee informed that the Chingwang Konyak in his Presidential addressmade it amply clear that the ongoing Presidential tour program was to strengthen the NDPP as an organisation and not as a campaign for the upcoming general elections in 2023. He further clarified that at a juncture where the Nagas are earnestly awaiting a final settlement to the Indo-Naga issue, the present tour program of the NDPP must not be misconstrued as going against the sentiments of the people since this is entirely an internal party exercise to meet andre-strengthen the party at the grass-root.
On the issue of pre-poll alliance with the BJP, the President stated that the 2018 pre-poll alliance was the first ever seat sharing formula undertaken in Nagaland and that it has proven to be successful as the alliance has delivered a stable Government till date and that he was confident that the alliance with the BJP will be further strengthened in 2023 with the alliance gaining more numbers in the House.
He further called upon the members of the Peren Region and the assembly constituencies of Peren and Tening to leave behind past differences and start working in unison towards achieving the goal of having both the elected members of Peren district from the NDPP party.
Benjamin Lorin, Vice President, NDPP, in-charge of Establishment and Enrolment, presented a brief statistic of the General Elections of 2018 along with the enrolment status of the two assembly constituencies under Peren district.
The program ended with a vote of thanks which was pronounced by Alungle, President, Women Organisation, Peren Region.
