Mokokchung, 3 April (MTNews): In anticipation of the 18th Lok Sabha Elections, S Supongmeren Jamir, the Consensus Candidate for Nagaland Lok Sabha Constituency representing the Indian National Congress (INC) and INDIA bloc, has issued an appeal to legislators, ex-parliamentarians, ex-candidates, village council leaders, and elders of Nagaland. Jamir urged them to utilize every available resource to ensure a “free and fair voting environment,” emphasizing the critical importance of allowing each voter in the state to exercise their democratic right without hindrance.
“We believe that the verdict in this edition of the general elections, more than ever before, will have far reaching consequences, even up to the extent of affecting the inclusive spirit of the Constitution which have so far managed to delicately hold together the idea of India,” stated Jamir.
Jamir elucidated that this apprehension arises not from baseless rhetoric or deliberate dishonesty, but from shared experiences of the past decade characterized by painful socio-economic distress and injustices. He highlighted the alarming assaults on the rights of religious minority communities, which have become all too frequent.
“We keep faith in the weight of your prayers, and expect only the most positive of interventions from your end, because we simply can’t afford the possibility of anything otherwise,” said Jamir.
