Mokokchung, 20 December (MTNews): In a bid to rejuvenate grassroots support and echo the historic legacy of Mahatma Gandhi’s “Tilak Swaraj Fund” of 1920-21, the Congress Party has announced a nationwide crowdfunding campaign named “Donate For Desh.” This initiative, inaugurated by the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on December 18, 2023, in New Delhi, is along the lines of Mahatma Gandhi’s historic “Tilak Swaraj Fund” in 1920-21 that aimed at empowering the party in creating an India rich in equal resource distribution and opportunities.
It aims to bring back individual donors to the centre stage of electoral resource mobilization in an era dominated by PM Modi’s opaque and oligarchic electoral bonds, stated the Communications Department, NPCC through a Press Release.
During its inaugural phase, the campaign will pay homage to the Indian National Congress’s 138-year rich history. Donors are encouraged to contribute in multiples of ?138, such as ?138, ?1,380, ?13,800, and so forth. The online donation drive will continue until December 28, coinciding with the Foundation Day of the party. Beyond this date, the campaign will transition to ground initiatives, including door-to-door visits by dedicated volunteers.
