AICC Secretary in charge of Nagaland, Christopher Tilak, on Friday highlighted the rampant corruption in Nagaland under the current government, describing it as a “culture of decadence and ineptitude.” He stated that the Congress party remains the only viable alternative capable of dismantling this pervasive culture. He was addressing party members and supporters in Phek as part of the ongoing statewide inter-district tour program aimed at revitalizing the party at the grassroots level.

Tilak remarked that despite being in opposition for over two decades, the Congress party’s enduring legacy of ”progressive and inclusive actions” enabled its recent success in the Nagaland general elections. ”Congress has faced many challenges but has survived for over 100 years,” he said, emphasizing the need to promote a narrative grounded in the absolute denouncement of the BJP’s ”divisive ideology.”

Working President of NPCC, Khriedi Theunuo, also spoke at the event, stressing the importance of strengthening the party organization to provide the state’s electorate with a ”much-needed alternative.” He explained that the ongoing tour is focused on identifying and empowering capable leaders at all levels of the party structure, with particular attention to grassroots development.

S Supongmeren Jamir, MP and NPCC President, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the need for ”solutions, not just issues.” He acknowledged that the path to the 2028 elections would be challenging but expressed confidence that voters have seen through the ”lies and failures” of the current government and would opt for change.

The Congress leadership reiterated that the party’s efforts are not merely political but are aimed at bringing transparency and accountability to governance in Nagaland.
