A thanksgiving service was held on Tuesday at the private residence of Vikheshe Aye, Councillor of Ward No 5, Alahuto, Zunheboto Town Council, to celebrate his election victory and reaffirm his commitment to the community.

Vikheshe Aye announced that, along with three independent candidates, he has extended outside support to the elected Chairman of Zunheboto Town Council to work collectively for the betterment of Zunheboto Town under the guidance and support of Tokugha Sukhalu, MLA and Advisor, Food & Civil Supply, Legal Metrology.

He expressed confidence in working with Chairman K Herato Sukhalu and other councillors, anticipating new progress and development in Zunheboto Town. Vikheshe Aye emphasized collective work for the larger interest of the people, despite challenges.

Aye also addressed the recent landslide in the colony calling it the “most devastating” landslide  in the history of Zunheboto Town. The landslide caused extensive damage, including the destruction of six houses and significant damage to public properties. He called for urgent state government intervention to manage the disaster and repair affected infrastructure. Aye warned that if the landslide persists, over 50 households could face risks during the monsoon season.

“More than 17 households have been evacuated, and the demolition of public properties and a survey  from the department of Geology and Mining is still underway, in collaboration with the District Disaster Management Authority,” he added.

Aye also expressed his gratitude to the people of Alahuto Ward for electing him in the urban local bodies’ election and pledged to work for the welfare of Alahuto Ward and Zunheboto Town.
