Mokokchung, 8 September (MTNews): Following the allegations made by musician Abel Asumi on various social media platforms against the Chozuba Town Youth Organization (CTYO), where he claimed to have been forcibly stopped by a group of ‘intoxicated individuals’ and subjected to physical harassment on 5 September 2023, tensions between the two communities, Sumi and Chakhesang, have escalated virtually. People have taken to social media choosing sides and thereby creating deep rifts between these two communities.
Furthermore, an FIR has been filed by Asumi against the CTYO, while the CTYO has reciprocated with a counter-complaint, further exacerbating the divide.
In response to these developments, the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) on Friday, through a press release, acknowledged that some discussions on social media have taken an unfortunate turn, leading to misunderstandings and hurtful exchanges. In light of this, the CPO has appealed to the Chakhesang community for cooperation, urging them to refrain from participating in or commenting on any social media discourse.
The CPO also stated that it is actively addressing the Chozuba town incident in collaboration with the Chozuba Range Public Organization (CRPO). Their joint efforts aim to bring resolution and justice to this matter.
The CPO further appealed: ‘By refraining from engaging in divisive online discourse, we can maintain the harmony and cohesion that define our community. Your actions have the power to inspire positive change.'”
