The Chakhroma Public Organization (CPO) on Sunday said that while it supports an early, honourable and lasting solution to the protracted Naga political issue, the formation of a new parallel body at this stage could undermine the collective momentum already achieved by Naga tribes and political entities.

In a statement issued by CPO President Zhato Kimho and Vice President Sebastian Zumvu, the organization said it is “of the considered view that formation of a new parallel body at this juncture, especially in the aftermath of the Declarations of Ungma and Zunheboto arrived at unanimously by all Naga tribes and political entities earlier this year, could destabilize and jeopardize the momentum for a desired resolution of the said problem at an early date as desired by the Nagas as a whole.”

The CPO said it stands by the consensus reflected in the Ungma and Zunheboto declarations and cautioned against any move that might derail the collective efforts toward a settlement.

Further, in compliance with the directive of the Angami Public Organization (APO), the apex body of the Angami tribe, the CPO instructed all Angami members particularly Gaon Burahs (GBs) under Chakhroma jurisdiction to refrain from participating in the proposed meeting called by the All Nagaland GBs Association (ANGA) scheduled to be held at Agri Expo on November 18, 2025.

The statement said the CPO is following the APO directive asking its members not to participate in or attend the ANGA meeting and reiterated that all Angamis under Chakhroma must comply.
