Mokokchung, 21 January (MTNews): The Mokokchung District Cricket Association (MDCA) has released the names of the players selected to represent the district in the upcoming Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024.

The selection trials took place on 17 January 2024 at the Cricket Practice Pitch, situated within the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.

Alongside the announcement of the 15-player roster for the Mokokchung district team, the MDCA introduced Tushin as the Manager, Lanusanen I Jamir as the Coach, and Moatemshi as Support Staff.
The Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2024 is scheduled to take place from the 12 to 17 of February 2024. This sporting extravaganza will be held across two districts – Dimapur and Chümoukedima – featuring Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Lawn Tennis, Pencak Silat, SepakTakraw, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Belt Wrestling, Wrestling, and Wushu.
Cricket will be making a return to the Olympics at Los Angeles 2028 in a T20 format, which is why it is also featuring in the NOPG 2024. Cricket was a part of the 1900 Olympics in Paris ; however, the sport, despite its immense popularity worldwide, has not featured in the Olympic program.
