Senior Men’s Inter-District Cricket Tournament 2025

The stage is set for a thrilling final in the Senior Men’s Inter-District Tournament 2025 as Niuland and Dimapur secured their spots with dominant performances in their respective semi-finals on March 20. Dimapur stormed past Wokha with a resounding 10-wicket victory at Sovima Cricket Ground, while Niuland outclassed Chumoukedima by 86 runs at the Nagaland Cricket Association Stadium, Chumoukedima.

In the first semi-final, Dimapur displayed sheer dominance over Wokha, who struggled to build a substantial total after opting to bat first. Wokha’s innings crumbled under relentless pressure from Dimapur’s bowling attack, with Hopongkyu Sangtam spearheading the destruction. Sangtam claimed five wickets for 27 runs in 8 overs, while Tahmeed provided solid support with figures of 4 for 22 in 6.2 overs. Wokha managed just 72 runs in 20.2 overs, with Nchumbemo Kikon’s 33 off 26 balls being the only notable contribution.

Chasing a paltry target, Dimapur’s openers ensured there were no hiccups as they raced to 75 for no loss in just 7 overs. Hem led the charge with an explosive 39 off 20 balls, while Shamphri Terang remained unbeaten on 32 off 23 balls. Their aggressive approach sealed Dimapur’s comprehensive victory and a well-earned place in the final. Sangtam’s match-winning spell rightfully earned him the Player of the Match award.

In the second semi-final, Niuland successfully defended a total of 188 against Chumoukedima. Batting first after winning the toss, Niuland posted a fighting total before being bowled out in 48.3 overs. Hokaito Zhimomi was the top scorer with 35 off 66 balls, while Chumoukedima’s bowlers, led by Ravi Kumar Ram (3 for 37 in 7 overs), kept the pressure on throughout the innings.

Chumoukedima’s chase never gained momentum as Niuland’s bowlers struck at regular intervals. Despite brief resistance from Jonathan Rongsen (26 off 34) and Yugi (24 off 35), their batting lineup faltered under the brilliance of Zhimomi, who produced a sensational spell of 7 wickets for just 14 runs in 5.5 overs. His heroics dismantled Chumoukedima’s innings, bundling them out for 102 in 34.5 overs. For his exceptional all-round performance, Zhimomi was named Player of the Match.

With both teams in top form, the much-anticipated final between Dimapur and Niuland is set for March 22, 2025. Both sides have displayed remarkable skill and dominance throughout the tournament, promising an electrifying showdown for the coveted title.
