Responding to a desperate SOS, the CRPF’s 84 Battalion safely evacuated 39 students from the Kashmir Valley late on May 10, including 14 from Northeast India as tensions escalated in the region.

According to a press release from the CRPF 84 Bn, the operation was initiated following Singh’s appeal on social media, highlighting the safety concerns of students in the region. Commandant N Ranbir Singh of the 84 Bn CRPF quickly coordinated with the university administration to facilitate the evacuation.

Among those evacuated were 6 students from Manipur, 4 from Assam, 4 from Tripura, and 3 from Nagaland, along with students from other states like Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.

“The students, visibly distressed, were evacuated from Pampore and brought to Tac HQ 84 Bn Ramban in the evening of 10 May,” said Commandant N Ranbir Singh. “They were provided free accommodation, food, and essential logistics at 84 Bn CRPF Boom Ramban.”

After breakfast the next morning, on May 11, the students were transported safely to Jammu Railway Station for their onward journeys to their home states.

Expressing their gratitude, the students thanked Commandant N Ranbir Singh and his team for their compassion and timely action. “This humanitarian gesture not only ensured their safety but also reinforced the trust and bond between the force and the citizens it serves,” the CRPF said.

The CRPF reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to both operational excellence and humanitarian assistance. “Our role remains pivotal in maintaining security and demonstrating steadfast support for the welfare of citizens,” the force stated.
