The Chakhesang Students’ Union of Kohima Science College Jotsoma (CSU KSC), Jotsoma on Saturday, celebrated its golden jubilee under the theme “Innovate, Motivate, Accelerate,” with MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero as the honored guest.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Mero, an alumnus of KSC, thanked God for the positions held by the alumni, some of whom are leaders in religion, civil society organizations, and government as bureaucrats and officers.
Thanking the pioneers of CSU KSCJ who have nurtured the union thus far, Dr. Mero said, “It is because of them that we are having this celebration today.”
He stated that a jubilee is a time for forgiveness among friends if there are any misunderstandings, adding, “It is a time for us to come out of the darkness of life into the light of life.”
Speaking on advanced technology, he said, “Artificial Intelligence has made life easier for all of us.” He noted that AI has made life more comfortable and boosted various aspects of life.
Dr Mero, however, pointed out that competition in society has become more intense, leading to mounting mental pressure. “But in the midst of all the advancement, if you have faith in God, and if you are diligent, consistent, and hardworking, I believe—and I hope—you’ll be able to achieve your desired goals in life,” Dr Mero said.
He also urged students to stay rooted in “our Chakhesang identity and culture.”
Earlier, Senowekha K Kenye, the first president of CSU KSCJ (1975-1979 batch) and Director (Retd.) of Geology & Mining, Government of Nagaland, released the Golden Jubilee souvenir. CSU KSCJ President Tewe Medo delivered the welcome address.
The celebration also featured an invocation and jubilee consecration by Rev Dr Vevo Phesao, Senior Pastor of CBCMH Kohima, a documentary screening, an indigenous tune by Vekriilii Nakro and Hiinulii Hoshi, an euphonic presentation by the Angami Students’ Union KSCJ, a concluding tribute by Dr Wenyitso Kapfo, Advisor of CSU KSCJ, and a benediction by Khatsoyi Sapu, Pastor of Phiihgi Baptist Church. The event concluded with a Golden Jubilee banquet and social gathering.
Hiivelii Lohe and Rukusa Medeo compered the program.
