The Combined Technical Associations of Nagaland (CTAN) has expressed strong opposition to the recent notification issued by the Department of Health & Family Welfare seeking to regularize 98 contractual COVID-19 appointees through departmental screening.
In a statement, CTAN described the move as “unconstitutional and arbitrary” and said it “undermines meritocracy and established recruitment norms.” The organization urged all federating units to join a collective protest in solidarity with the Nagaland Medical Students’ Association (NMSA).
The protest is scheduled to begin on 1st September 2025 at the Department of Health and Family Welfare in Kohima. CTAN emphasized that “active participation is crucial to safeguard fairness, equal opportunity, and the future of all aspirants,” and called upon all members to “stand united to uphold justice and transparency in recruitment.”
Avika Zhimomi, Chairman of CTAN’s Media Cell, said the collective action aims to ensure that recruitment practices remain transparent and merit-based, reinforcing the importance of fairness in the state’s health sector.
